A fantastic start to 2023!

A fantastic start to 2023!

By Stephanie Meyers

Thanks to YOUR support, together we raised $7,703 for your local lake and radio station!

That’s over triple the amount we raised last year. Way to go!

Thank you so much to everyone who plunged, donated, and came to cheer on the brave souls yesterday. We are so grateful for your support.

“The donations will be used to fund important stewardship and education projects on the lake including habitat restoration, wildlife and watershed monitoring, shoreline cleanups, and will help improve Kootenay Co-op Radio equipment and keep them on air! We can’t wait to share what kind of impact your donation will make this year!” says Joelle Burnie,  Environmental Outreach Coordinator- Friends of Kootenay Lake Stewardship Society.

We saw over 120 divers in the lake with 350-400 people cheering them on! We thank the 30 plungers who registered online to raise funds.

“I realize looking at the photos that we are creating lasting memories for members of the community which continues an incredible tradition, it is such a big part of our West Kootenays culture and we play an important part in it. I felt more energized by the crowd than by my plunge!” says Amelie Sauquet-Davidson, KCR sponsorship coordinator.

An event like this wouldn’t have been possible without the work of dedicated volunteers. We feel lucky to be surrounded by amazing people. Thank you to the 20 volunteers who helped on January 1st from DJ’ing to cooking for the chili, greeting people, taking pictures, cheering on plungers, serving the hot cacao and more.
